About Us

Making Mental Health Part of How We Live, Work and Thrive

Mental health is an essential part of overall health and wellbeing. Top Wellness Africa exists to help bridge the gap between knowing that and living it.

Why we exist

The gap between distress and support is where people get lost

Mental health is an essential part of overall health and wellbeing.

Yet many people experience psychological distress without knowing where to turn, while organizations may struggle to identify emerging wellbeing concerns or create effective systems of support.

Top Wellness Africa exists to help bridge that gap.

We work with individuals, employers, NGOs, government institutions, healthcare organizations, development and humanitarian organizations, educational institutions and communities to promote mental health, strengthen psychosocial wellbeing and build healthier environments.

Our approach combines

  • Awareness
  • Prevention
  • Early Identification
  • Support
  • Referral
  • Capacity Building
  • Sustainable Wellbeing

Our vision and mission

Our Vision

A mentally healthier Africa where individuals, workplaces and communities have the knowledge, resources and support they need to thrive.

Our Mission

To advance mental health and psychosocial wellbeing through accessible, evidence-informed and culturally responsive solutions that strengthen individuals, organizations and communities.

Our approach

People First. Evidence Informed. Context Driven.

We recognize that wellbeing cannot be separated from the environments in which people live and work. Our approach considers all of the following, together.

The person

  • Individual psychological wellbeing
  • Relationships and social support
  • Prevention and early intervention

The workplace

  • Workplace environment
  • Organizational culture
  • Psychosocial risks

The wider context

  • Community context
  • Access to mental health services
  • Referral and continuity of care

Our model

Seven steps, in order, every time

The sequence matters as much as the parts. Skipping straight to an intervention without understanding is how wellbeing programs quietly fail.

Understand

We listen and assess.

Identify

We identify needs, risks, strengths and available resources.

Design

We develop an appropriate intervention.

Support

We provide professional and psychosocial support.

Connect

We facilitate referral where additional or specialized care is needed.

Strengthen

We build the capacity of individuals, teams and organizations.

Evaluate

We measure learning, engagement and wellbeing outcomes where appropriate.

Our impact

Five questions we hold ourselves to

Impact is not a single number. These are the questions we ask of every program, and the answers we report against.

Reach

Who are we supporting?

Experience

What have people experienced through our programs?

Change

What has improved?

Learning

What have we learned?

Sustainability

What systems or capacities have been strengthened?
